...
ONE simple word of encouragement goes a long way. A stranger spoke into her life. “She told me, You will own your own business one day” Who would have ever thought that while LaReshia Poore was visiting her mother in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2008 that an encouraging word would be the motivation she needed to start her own business. Motivated but still unsure...Being gifted in multiple areas, it wasn’t obvious the business was baking cookies. One day her sister asked her to bake some cookies out of the blue in the middle of the summer. After tasting how delicious they were she encouraged her to start baking as a business.
LaReshia wondered with her work schedule and other commitments how she would have the time. What if people didn't have the same response as her sister? She wondered if she had what it took to be successful.
A step of FAITH...

LaReshia decided to follow her heart. She stepped out on faith
but with baby steps. With just two types of cookies, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip
she started with taking small batches of cookies to her job and local church. The
response was overwhelmingly positive. People said they could taste the "love" in each
bite. She began getting orders from co-workers and their families. As her confidence
grew she knew it was time to do business.
The Name and a Legacy...

When picking a name she went with her father's family name Poore. The first reason is because the name is unique. Second, because of the legacy it carries. The Poore family is full of hard workers that are dedicated and loyal to whatever they do. Her father helped instill those qualities in her as a child, so as an adult she is proud to continue that standard in her business. Her father never had any biological sons, so she thought this was one way to establish a different kind of legacy as well as a great brand.

Poore Cookie is GROWING...and EXPANDING...
Since the start in 2008, the business has taken some great steps forward. Poore Cookies is no longer just baking a batch of cookies for work. The clientele has grown from just friends and family to catering birthday,corporate and other social events in the area Charlotte NC area. Some of their clients include Time Warner and Wells Fargo Bank. LaReshia Poore’s vision is to expand the business nationally through grocery stores and coffee shops.
